Merchant FAQ
Practical answers about who sells the product, who processes the card payment, how payouts work and which obligations remain with the merchant.

Business Commerce
For registered legal entities and sole traders, the merchant remains the seller of record for its goods and services. Kordiva's payment role does not make it the product seller in this model.
Your business approves eligible customer refunds under its policies and applicable law. Kordiva initiates the payment-side refund through Stripe. Refunded amounts can reduce your balance, reserve or future eligible payouts; the customer’s bank determines when the refund appears. A refund does not guarantee that every original fee is returned.
Kordiva receives payment-side disputes and requests your order, delivery and customer-communication evidence. Disputed funds and applicable processor or network fees can be held or recovered from Business proceeds. The confirmed outcome determines the final adjustment.
Business payouts follow verification, settlement, order fulfilment and transaction-specific hold checks. Available funds, payouts in transit and Stripe-confirmed paid payouts are shown separately in Payments/Payouts. Bank arrival is separate from eligibility; the Individual 1st and 15th schedule does not apply to Business Commerce.
Business payout and reserve rulesIndividual Merchant of Record
For eligible NATURAL_PERSON digital transactions, Kordiva LLC is Merchant of Record to the buyer. The customer pays Kordiva; the approved Individual supplies the digital content or service and receives eligible proceeds through the controlled payout flow.
Kordiva reviews Individual refund requests and manages full refunds and chargebacks. Automatic LIVE partial refunds are unavailable. Intended reserves range from 0% to 15%, according to the reviewed policy; eligible payouts follow the 1st and 15th UTC cycles. Planned buyer markets require separate approval and activation.

Business Commerce — registered legal entities and sole traders
The following Business provisions apply to registered businesses and sole traders. The separate public Individual MoR explanation follows below; it is not an accepted seller agreement.
1. Is Kordiva the seller of my products or services?
No. The registered merchant operating the store remains the seller of record for its goods and services. Kordiva does not acquire ownership of the catalogue and does not become the supplier, reseller or licensor of those goods or services merely because a card payment is processed through Kordiva.
2. How does Business Commerce payment infrastructure work?
For Business Commerce, Kordiva operates the Stripe-connected card-payment infrastructure. The payment is created through Kordiva's Stripe-connected platform flow and the merchant's eligible proceeds are paid out through its connected recipient account.
Payment infrastructure and the registered merchant's seller-of-record responsibility are separate roles in Business Commerce.
3. What will the customer see on the card statement?
Kordiva sends the store name as the transaction statement-descriptor suffix where supported. The final text shown by a bank also depends on Kordiva's configured Stripe base descriptor and on the customer's issuing bank, so the exact display can vary. Kordiva does not guarantee a fixed KORDIVA*STORE NAME rendering on every statement.
4. Who is responsible for invoices, tax and customer obligations?
The merchant remains responsible for product or service legality, fulfilment, delivery, customer rights, returns, warranties, tax treatment and legally required fiscal or sales documentation. Kordiva can generate a commercial PDF invoice using the merchant's configured legal identity, but that PDF is not by itself a UJP fiscal e-invoice.
5. How do Stripe verification and payouts work for Macedonian merchants?
Eligible merchants complete the required Stripe-connected verification flow and add their business bank account. For locally onboarded Macedonian merchants, Kordiva currently uses a recipient-account payout model. This is not the same as the merchant opening a standalone Stripe merchant account in North Macedonia.
6. When are funds paid out?
For ordinary foreign or unknown-card orders, the base hold is 14 days from first shipment for physical goods, or 7 days from payment for digital-only and deposit orders. Eligible established merchants can have shorter 7-day and 3-day base windows. Confirmed MK-card payments have no ordinary time hold, but still require the shipment or payment milestone, settlement and release checks. Longer existing holds, manual reviews, reserves and risk controls can still apply. These are eligibility windows, not guaranteed bank-arrival dates.
7. Who handles refunds and disputes?
The merchant decides whether a customer claim qualifies for a commercial refund under its policies and applicable law. Kordiva provides the payment-side refund and dispute tooling and can reverse, offset or hold merchant proceeds when necessary to settle refunds, disputes, chargebacks or negative balances.
Read Payments and Disputes8. Is UJP e-Invoice live in production?
No. As of August 2026, Kordiva's UJP e-Invoice integration is in test/sandbox mode and production submission is intentionally disabled during the pre-2027 testing period. Merchants remain responsible for the fiscal process that currently applies to their business. Production activation will require the formal cutover, correct deployment configuration and merchant readiness checks.
9. What is required to start?
- For Business Commerce: a registered legal entity or registered sole trader. Eligible natural persons can apply separately for the digital Individual Merchant of Record model. Individual access is TEST-first; LIVE requires separate approval.
- Accurate legal, tax and business information.
- Successful Stripe-connected and banking verification before payouts are enabled.
- Acceptance of the current merchant payment, payout, refund and dispute terms.
Individual Merchant of Record FAQ
What does Merchant of Record mean?
For eligible Individual digital transactions, the customer pays Kordiva LLC as Merchant of Record. Kordiva controls the configured payment, buyer-tax, refund and money lifecycle; you supply the approved digital content or service.
Do I need a registered company?
The Individual model accepts applications from natural persons in the initial seller countries. Approval, identity and bank verification, product eligibility and market activation are required. Local registration or income-tax obligations may still apply to you.
What can I sell?
Approved digital downloads, design assets, downloadable software, digital educational content and eligible digital services. Products are reviewed under the restricted-products policy.
Can I sell physical products?
No. Physical products, shipping, inventory and cash on delivery are outside the Individual MoR model. Registered businesses use Business Commerce for supported physical-commerce paths.
Does Kordiva handle VAT or sales tax?
Kordiva handles the configured buyer-tax transaction layer in activated, reviewed buyer markets. Seller-country eligibility does not activate buyer markets. EU sales are not announced as live here; a pending OSS application is not an active registration.
Do I still have local tax obligations?
Yes. You remain responsible for your own income tax, accounting, registrations and other obligations in your jurisdiction. Merchant of Record does not remove those obligations.
When do I get paid?
Eligible funds follow scheduled bank payout cycles on the 1st and 15th (UTC). Verification, actual costs, maturity, reserves, refunds, disputes and reconciliation can delay eligibility. A successful payment is not a guaranteed bank payout date.
Can I sell subscriptions to customers?
One-time digital sales are supported today. Recurring customer billing is not currently available for Individual MoR. Pro's $29 monthly platform subscription is a separate Kordiva SaaS plan.
Can I use my own website or app?
Yes. Use a branded storefront, share Checkout Links, or integrate through the API. All Individual transactions remain subject to the same approval, digital-product and buyer-market controls.
What is the difference between Creator and Pro?
Creator includes 1 active store and up to 100 active digital products. Pro includes up to 3 active stores and 500 active digital products per store, with a lower commercial sale fee. Both include custom domains, themes/pages, email, contacts/newsletter, analytics, Checkout Links and API.
How do refunds and reserves work?
Kordiva reviews refund requests; a request does not issue a refund immediately. Controlled full refunds are supported; automatic LIVE partial refunds are unavailable. Intended reserves are 10% for 90 days by default, 5% for 90 days for qualifying reduced-risk sellers, 0% for proven sellers, and 15% for up to 120 days for higher risk. Account eligibility, review and activation apply; a reserve is not an extra fee. Disputes and debt can hold proceeds separately.
Which buyer markets are planned for launch?
Our intended launch group is the United States, Canada, Australia and all 27 EU member states. USA activation remains unverified; Australia tax setup is reported complete but activation remains unverified. Canada's application and the Irish OSS application for planned EU coverage are pending. This is not a statement of current LIVE availability. Other buyer countries require payment, product and tax/compliance review. Seller application countries are separate.
